Start with the type you need

  • This category currently covers one lens: the Sigma 18-50mm F2.8 DC DN Contemporary for Sony E-mount. It is an APS-C standard zoom with a constant F2.8 aperture, equivalent to about 27-75mm on full frame, and the Sony E version weighs 290 g.
  • Good fit: Sony E-mount APS-C shooters who want a fast zoom that stays compact, and travelers who want a light everyday lens.
  • Poor fit: anyone who needs telephoto or ultra-wide reach. Sigma's same line also includes a 10-18mm and a 50-120mm.

China model vs global model

  • The card's specs follow Sigma's global site. Confirm China-market specs and warranty with the seller before buying a China unit.

Common pitfalls

  • Four mounts exist: L-Mount, Canon RF, FUJIFILM X and Sony E. Confirm yours before you order.
  • There is no optical stabilization in the lens, so you rely on in-body stabilization if your camera has it.
  • Protector and circular polarizing filters (CPL-21) are sold separately. The filter size is 55mm.
  • Minimum focus is 12.1 cm at the wide end and 30 cm at the long end, with a fast, quiet stepping motor.
